Meet the 15-Year-Old Who Built Her First Mobile App

When Sofia first walked into our coding class, she was not sure she belonged. "I thought programming was only for people who were really good at math," she says. Nine months later, she launched her own app.

Finding a Real Problem

Sofia noticed her classmates were always losing track of assignments. Instead of a random project, she decided to build something that solved a problem she actually had.

One Small Step at a Time

She started with a simple list of tasks, then added reminders, then colors for each subject. Each week the app did a little more than the week before.

Sharing It With the World

With help from her mentors, Sofia published the app so her whole school could use it. "Seeing my friends actually use something I made was unreal," she says.
